Whether you call it natural, handmade, handcrafted, artisan or herbal soap, Greenviv soap is made from scratch using wholesome ingredients... by our family for your family.
Our SKIN, remarkably thin and amazingly complex, is our body’s largest organ. Like a sponge, our skin absorbs chemicals. In fact, today many medicines are given in "patch" form to be absorbed through the skin. Since our skin cannot discriminate between synthetic and natural, or between harmful and beneficial, it may absorb harmful chemicals present is commercial soaps, shampoos, and lotions.
So the questions is... What Do You Want to put on Your Skin?
Our bodies are constantly exposed to synthetic chemicals in air, water, and food--why add to the problem by applying synthetic products to your skin and hair. The long term effects of synthetic chemicals on the body are still unknown. The ingredients that are used to make Greenviv natural handmade soap can often be found in your garden and kitchen pantry. Our customers have come to depend on the quality of our handmade soap.
Making natural soap is not that difficult. Making great natural soap is a skill that matures with increased knowledge and experience. I approach the art of soapmaking as a "science" rather than simply a craft. My background in Chemistry and Biology, courses in Herbology, and hours and hours of research results in gentlest, silkiest, most lathering soap you can buy. A great bar of soap is the result of carefully balancing the fatty acid composition of different oils and butters to maximize the moisturizing qualities. Our ingredients are individually chosen and combined to create the finest products available, each of which does something wonderful and different for your skin. The popularity of natural handmade soaps is on the rise and with good reason. It is an luxurious, healthy, treat you can give yourself every day. Handmade soaps are not just for cleansing. They play an important part in natural skin care. Herbs and essential oils infuse the skin with enriching nutrients. Homemade soap is truly better.
The commercial "soap" found in grocery store aisles is frequently not soap at all but a detergent bar made from synthetic materials, cleansers, stabilizers and animal by-products. These bars contain processed chemicals and quite often, petroleum-based ingredients, that are harsh on your skin and strip it of it's natural protective oils and moisture. Unlike commercially produced soaps, handmade soaps do not leave your skin squeaky clean, stripped of its natural, protective oils. Squeaky clean is for dishes--not human skin!

Greenviv All Natural Handcrafted Soaps are made using the old-fashioned cold process method in small quality controlled batches. We use fresh plant oils and butters gently warmed and then slowly mixed with an alkaline solution. The mixture is stirred until it thickens at which time essential oils, botanicals, and other beneficial ingredients are added. The result is a mild, rich, soothing soap that feels creamy in your hands, offers a magnificent long-lasting lather, and leaves your skin clean, soft, silky, and radiantly healthy. Since no additional heat is applied once the oils and alkali (base) have been mixed, this method of soapmaking is called the Cold Process method. Real soap is the result of a natural chemical process called saponification, in which an acid (the oils and butters) and a base (sodium hydroxide--which is lye) dissolved in water (or other liquid), are brought together to form a salt (soap). The words "saponified oils" actually means that the oils are mixed with lye water. The naturally occurring glycerin that helps moisturize your skin, is a by-product of saponification. I know you are asking…is there lye in my soap? The answer is NO! Real soap cannot be made without lye (sodium hydroxide), but when the lye is mixed with the vegetable oils and liquid during the initial soap making stage, a soap making process called saponification begins. At the end of saponification all of the lye has reacted with the oils to make soap. There is NO lye left in a bar of Greenviv Handcrafted Soap.
The liquid mixed with lye in our handcrafted soap may be water, herbal tea, fruit or vegetable juice, goat’s milk, buttermilk, cream, coconut milk, yogurt, beer, or even brewed coffee.
The all natural soap mixture is poured into wooden molds, allowed to set for 24-48 hours, hand cut, and allowed to cure for 8-10 weeks in specially designed curing room having controlled temperature and humidity to create a long-lasting soap with exceptional mildness and lather.
Each batch is carefully tested to make sure that the saponification process is complete.
The primary organic base oils used in most of our soaps are olive, sunflower, coconut and sustainable palm. These oils are carefully blended together to produce a superior handcrafted soap. Each oil is chosen for the special characteristic it gives to the soap. For example olive and sunflower are gentle and moisturizing; coconut provides natural cleansing and bubbly lather; and palm oil creates a hard bar with creamy and conditioning lather.
Some of our soaps have no scent added—you’ll love the earthy smell of natural soap. These soaps have distinct natural aromas due to honey, grains, flowers, spices, herbs, or herbal infused oils. Scented soaps have all natural plant essential oils added. Soap colors come from natural juices, teas or spices.Continue
